Thank you so much for having me today! I grew up in Chicago a fave book setting! Usually my stories start with a single idea. A line or incident that sort of snares my attention and keeps me coming back to play with it until the scene and characters start to take shape. From those ideas the plot and characters sort build off each other…but not necessarily one before the other though. And the line-up of authors is amazing.
This story has been a blast to write. Yes, yes! Her first thought: Up until now, finding even a boyfriend had seemed impossible—been there, got the broken heart, sworn off men for good. Dare I own up to this?? Yeah…lol, live and learn! And so…. And eventually it had to hit the paper.
Again with the picking favorites!! Okay, how about the scene where Connor and Megan are getting ready for the wedding she came to Vegas to attend. He was so close she could feel the heat radiating off his body, the wash of his breath against her jaw, the tickle of his open shirt grazing her arms.
Too seductive to resist. Her fingers closed around the draping fabric, pulling him toward her until only the barest space remained. She pulled again. A subtle nudge. Braced on one arm and his knees above her, Connor slid his free hand up her left arm, rolling the glinting diamond band along the path of her skin until he held it poised above the tip of her ring finger, so close she could feel an almost magnetic pull from the wanting. It would be so easy to give in. Give him what he wanted.
What, on some level, she wanted too. Her eyes closed as she once again found herself relieved by his sense of humor and ability to lighten the mood without undermining the seriousness of what was at stake. Broad and tapered, chiseled and cut. All clean lines and classic good looks. The balanced symmetry of him so flawless, it might have made him bland.
This guy had one of those slanted smiles going on. The kind so lazy only half of it bothered to go to work. And yet, something about the ease of it suggested a near permanence on his face, while its stunted progress implied—well, she supposed that was part of the lure.
It could really imply anything. Hope to talk to you soon!! Forced to listen to one heaving revolt after another reverberate off the polished marble, Connor Reed cursed his conscience. A lawyer. Not exactly a stellar kickoff to their honeymoon. But based on the shocking evidence at hand—or more specifically, finger…and the band of glinting diamonds encircling hers—this was the worst-case scenario come to life. Cutting loose gone bad.
Consequences in action. Yeah, in all likelihood, this was going to be a major hassle to clean up. Rubbing a hand over the back of his neck, Connor gave his blanching bride a not-so-subtle once-over. Her too-wide smile, assortment of freckles and sexy laugh. Now, with her hair threatening to dip into God only knew, she just looked…rough. No gentle about it. So how the hell had she ended up flipped over his shoulder, giggling about how crazy he was, as he toted her into one of those all-night chapels Las Vegas was famous for?
Up until this last month, I would have said yes. Went for a guy my gut and everyone was telling me no to. It was a fairy tale for over a year, then a wife showed up. A terrible decision? I was in Paris one summer while in university and got too friendly with another foreigner which led me to running through the streets of Paris late at night to get away from him.
I guess the good that came out of it was that I realized that I needed to not only have my rose-colored glasses on. Oh Tawnya — That stinks! I would say a bad decision would have been that I quit my job of 21 yrs.
Our finances have definately suffered. My mistake would be leaving a job and a home to move back to my hometown. It was utterly depressing. It was during this time, however, that I met the love of my life and had my daughter. I was divorced from an alcoholic , who was abusive; then met another quiet drunk.
We remodeled a house living together, after a year we married. He adopted my son and has taken care of me well. Now at the time I had been calling her every day when I got home from school as we had agreed to me being home alone.
Yea yea whoops! She called my school, and my friend, and was about to call the cops. Lets just say that was a horrible day not just for me but my mom as well. I was grounded for a month, of which I totally deserved. I also learned the meaning of responsibility. They are brothers and sisters and they needed a home. They are small and keep me and each other company. I do have 4 kids and a husband, but the dogs are my babies.

Sort order. Dec 29, Rebekah Weatherspoon rated it did not like it Shelves: Megan wants to break it off because who wouldn't after marrying a stranger after being black out drunk, but oh no.
Connor is not having that. Megan who is super independent and smart and seriously doesnt need this dude AT ALL, fights him every time, but then caves seconds later for no reason other than the fact that he was hot? Connor thinks the same things over and over.

Yes, I do know this book is very predictable, and I do know that it's probably not very realistic because a guy like that really doesn't exist. But I don't care. I loved this book anyway. Because of the dialogue. That was the thing that won me over about this book. Kelly had a knack for writing some really good lines that had me grin like a fool, laugh out loud, and even for one tiny moment, make my eyes misty.

I mean, I'm reading a Harlequin romance. How complicated can it be. And there are Yes, I do know this book is very predictable, and I do know that it's probably not very realistic because a guy like that really doesn't exist.
And there are so many Harlequinn and similar type of romantic comedies that you will run into those with the same story line. But what set this book apart was the writing. This morning. Her stomach pitched hard. As though this guy was losing his patience. So he was gay. You should stop for drink that bar in terminal with the big olives B4 flight Hey, UR at the bar. You look pissed hide spoiler ] Both Megan and Connor are certifiably crazy - incredibly frustrating but at the same time charming.
And Connor is too good to be true. He knew exactly what to say. And even when he didn't, his imperfections and flaws were also attractive. How did Kelly do that?!? Like I said, it's not hard to guess what will happen. And I'm a sucker for cute, fun reads anyway. With this book, it was just a really entertaining experience to read such a delightful book.

If it wasn't for the fact that this was the only book on my e-reader during a family road trip I'm pretty sure this read would have turned out to be my first DNF.
But the 2nd half Parted lips. It might almost have been better if she had. Megan and Carter's story was definitely NOT an easy one, with both of them orphaned by their fathers for different reasons.. They both wanted senses and stability I never lied to you or kept anything of importance from you. Is that real enough for you?
But I couldn't really stay mad at Conner either.. I could actually understand where all his issues were coming from. After letting this lie on my shelf for so long,I think its safe to say.
YES, I do have Cover-lust syndrome.. XD what? I'm a med student everything is a syndrome to me ;D But seriously though guys, this book is defiantly worth reading Don't let the cover cheat you out of a beautiful story too!

Jan 09, Jill rated it liked it Recommended to Jill by: Megan Scott in Las Vegas for her cousin's wedding, wakes up after a night out on the town with a handsome stranger, to find herself married. Connor Reed is surprised that he and Megan click so well even after just one night. He's so happy about the arrangement, he'd like to make the marriage permanent. Trying to talk Megan out of a divorce though is going to be tough. So the story line isn't exactly new.
If you've seen the movie What Happens in Vegas you'll know what I mean. But the execution is Megan Scott in Las Vegas for her cousin's wedding, wakes up after a night out on the town with a handsome stranger, to find herself married. But the execution is really well done.
It's well-written, it's fun and the romance develops believably well as much as can be expected in fiction Both Connor especially! The first part of the story is light-hearted and just fun. Later in the second half a bit of angst develops with some conflict between the protags, but it adds to the story and of course it all works out. I enjoyed this a lot. Well worth picking up if you like light, cute contemporary romances.

This is one of those books that makes you throw up in your mouth multiple times, and you can't figure out why you're still reading it after the first chapter I knew I was in trouble after reading the first couple of pages, during which I was assaulted with one adjective-riddled, anecdotal cliche after another.
Anything that is suppos This is one of those books that makes you throw up in your mouth multiple times, and you can't figure out why you're still reading it after the first chapter Anything that is supposed to be funny falls embarrassingly flat, neither character is likable in any way whatsoever, the story is tired, the plot devices weak and, I'm sorry, I am sick to death of reading shit like this; "This guy and all his good looks weren't a part of her plan.
So what if he was handsome, or that she'd seen hints of the kind of humor she typically appreciated, or that she was, in fact, married to him? She'd had enough close calls in her life with the men she'd actually known , and she was through with the whole business. Nothing quite like being subtle and leading your readers quietly around to the intricate workings of your characters. Nah, fuck that, let's just shove it all in their faces right out of the gate so that they have the entire fucking book to digest the fact that wonder heroine with the heart of a sadistic cyborg and the mind of an inebriated chimp has a plan.
Seriously, I couldn't have figured it out without the author jamming it down my gullet like that, so I appreciate the candor. On top of the terrible writing, the characterization is just sickening. Emotionally stunted Megan, in an attempt to prove emotionally stunted Connor will just end up leaving her, devises a plan to make him see how completely and totally undesirable she is as a partner by doing things like Like I said, the mind of an inebriated chimp.
Typical HEA ending, as well, one you could see coming 10, miles away. I'm OK with that most of the time, but on top of everything else, it was just another disappointment. And the whole thing was so If you seek an engaging romantic read, look elsewhere, this story is barren, bereft, and bewildering. View all 7 comments. Feb 15, scribes23 rated it really liked it. Obviously your best bet is me. Please let me bear your babies! I enjoyed reading this one because of its conversational flow, you'll love the banter between the characters.
You'll know that Connor fell the moment Megan talked to him, he just doesn't know it yet. It was sweet, instant and epic. Those two belong together. And I keep seeing signs of it today. Tell me. Tell me you feel it too.

My second read by this author. I liked this book. It felt fresh and modern. It was one of those books where the story revolved solely around the hero and heroine's feelings and relationship. There was almost no description. Once the ocean was mentioned and some floor to ceiling windows but that was about it. There were a total of 5 scenes that included other people and they were extremely brief and the other characters were not important and were left My first try at the new Harlequin Kiss line.
There were a total of 5 scenes that included other people and they were extremely brief and the other characters were not important and were left totally undescribed. The one secondary character who seemed to be somewhat important, the hero's best friend, was never in any scene with both the hero and the heroine. I don't think he ever met her. There was a lot of telling to get to the next showing part and quite a bit of introspection, especially on the hero's part.
It all seemed part of the author's style though so it didn't bother me too much. On the whole an appealing book. View all 3 comments.
Dec 09, Jen rated it did not like it Shelves: Even though we've only known each other 2 seconds and we're both 3 THOUSAND sheets to the wind I'm thoroughly convinced that you're the woman I'm meant to marry because you throw your head back to laugh.
I know that sounds extremely romantic but it's not because I don't believe in love. This can't be real.
I was JUST admiring your lazy smile and wondering about it's origins. I'll tes Connor: I'll test you: I can't do this. Nov 30, Ana rated it liked it Shelves: The morning after her cousin's bachelorette party, she wakes up in a stranger's bed, and she's wearing a wedding ring!
For his par 3 stars You all have heard that saying: For his part, Connor is surprisingly pleased by the turn of events.
He wants to settle down and have a family, it's just that he hasn't been lucky so far. But after he got to know Megan he realized that she is perfect for him. Now, all he has to do is to convince her of that. A likable story about two people learning that loves takes no prisoners. The plot is engaging and interesting. The fact that the hero is the one who wants to stay married, who is pursuing the heroine, trying to convince her that marriage is a great thing is truly refreshing.
I enjoyed the first half of the book. While Megan was a trifle annoying with trying to sabotage the marriage, Connor made for it. And then he was the one who went cold on her overnight. And that negatively impacted my enjoyment of the book. I dislike character who have major attitude changes, and Connor was truly a shinning example of the type. I'm truly intrigued by this new Harlequin series.
It sounds as if it will be really enjoyable. For those interested, this book is free at both amazon and eHarlequin and probably other retailers, but I can't guarantee it. View all 8 comments. Dec 27, Amy rated it liked it Shelves: This novella is currently free on the publisher's website. I'm not sure if this says something about me as a person, but I love a good story where the man grovels, begs, pleads, woos, romances, etc. That reason alone had This novella is currently free on the publisher's website.
That reason alone had me enjoying this book tremendously, Connor gives a good chase and Megan was a good runner. Then came the heroine's realization and demonstration of her love for the hero. I was relieved and more than a little touched. The timing was perfect.
The reader already saw their love for one another so it was only a matter of time before it was verbalized or expressed. But this is where the book went from a 5 star read to a 2. I thought we were past the whole cliched "men run from feelings" thing but there it was. Right there. Right after Connor wooed the hell out of Megan and all but forced her to fall for him. The second she fell, he ran. Like a mofo. What the fuck, Connor? What's with that shit?
Ever heard of catching? Fucking coward. Jan 13, Deb rated it did not like it Shelves: The book starts off alright but then gets so aggravating!
The arrogance of this man was astounding. He was a disgusting prick who really just seemed like he wanted a trophy wife instead of a wife of equal standing. He called it a "partnership" while listing off expectations like an employer.
I was livid even if the main character was not. I just could not believe that such an independently written character like Megan can be okay with all the misogynistic expectations of this guy! It's one thing The book starts off alright but then gets so aggravating! It's one thing if she chose and wanted to be a stay at home mom, but a totally different thing if that's what he wanted out of their "marriage".
It was like he listed qualities he wanted in a nanny. At the beginning of their relationship, it seemed like he was manipulating her with compliments and small touches and showing her how wealthy he was like some sort of bribe.
Throughout most of the book, he rarely if ever talked about the kind of person she was and only listed qualities that he found would be perfect as his wife. A lot of the times, he wanted her because he was only physically attracted to her. And because she didn't initially agree with the marriage, this arrogant bastard actually called her an "unfinished project"!! Just fucking At some point, when she confronted him about it, he somehow manipulated her into thinking that she was wrong and a coward for not giving them a chance.
Buddy, all the doubts that she listed about you were spot on! The mofo kept treating their supposed marriage like a business deal waiting to be settled and signed. I was so disgusted by him and actually, by her too because she called him out on his mindset, but still allowed their relationship to continue. This is probably one of the worst books I've ever read.
I think I raged through most of it, and only finished it because of sheer will. Dec 02, Melissa rated it liked it. Although completely unrealistic and totally predictable, this was a fun and light read. Perfect to entertain on a lazy Sunday: And there were a few really good one liners that had me laughing out loud.
Nov 07, Suzie Quint rated it really liked it Shelves: There are some tropes that are fun but hard to write without having them seem contrived.
The accidental marriage is one of them, but Ms Kelly pulls it off nicely. Neither of them is looking for love. He wants a marriage that based on liking, shared goals and values without the mess of strong emotions. She's given up on relationships but wants children and has plans to get artificially inseminated.
When they meet in Vegas and have a gloriously fun night, he decides she's everything he's looking f There are some tropes that are fun but hard to write without having them seem contrived. When they meet in Vegas and have a gloriously fun night, he decides she's everything he's looking for and talks her into getting married, not realizing that she's drunk enough that she'll remembers little the next morning.
Convincing the heroine to give them a chance could have been a disaster in the hands of an impatient author, but Ms.
Kelly gets there in a nicely paced, methodical, and logical fashion, creating realistic reasons for her to agree. Not once did I roll my eyes. A common event when I'm asked to stretch credibility too far. Since I bought into the set up, I was able to relax and enjoy the way the story played out. I do like when the hero is confident enough to put himself out there and go after the woman he wants, and Ms. Kelly writes such men well so this is another winner. My favorite part?
How, in the beginning, she can't get his name right. View all 6 comments. May 15, Caz rated it liked it Shelves: From what Megan told him the previous night, it seems she wants the same things from a relationship that he does: Shared goals and compatible priorities. Reasonable and Mr. Unflappable, even when Megan tries everything she can think of to rile him or get him to give up — which seemed a bit mean considering she had actually agreed to give him and their marriage a chance to work out.
Waking Up Married was enjoyable - but ultimately forgettable - fluff. May 02, Andrea rated it it was amazing Shelves: My Review: I don't give out 5 hearts very easily but because it caught me off guard completely, I'm giving it the full 5 hearts it deserves. I got it for free from Amazon so I wasn't really expecting it to be this fun, quirky, and seductive. I was dreading it was going to be a bit of a heavy read and somewhat complicated but it turned out to be a predictable in a good way and light read, which made it way better than what I was expecting it to be.
It was very cheesy and corny, which I usually My Review: It was very cheesy and corny, which I usually don't like, but surprisingly I loved reading it on this book.
It had that perfect cheesiness and corniness to it. I went through waves of emotions from grinning like a fool to myself, squealing because of excitement, having that "uh-oh-this-is-going-to-be-a-disaster" feeling, laughing so hard forgetting there were people around me, and crying like a baby.
Everything I'm looking for in a guy, I found in Conner. It's about respect, caring and commitment. It's about treating a marriage like a partnership instead of some romantic fantasy. It's about two people liking each other.
Now, knock it off. You don't remember, but if there's one thing we do well About anything. She has her reasons and she's used to being alone and independent.
I liked another character that most probably won't even notice as much, Jeff. Oh, Jeff was funny! If I'm going to be married to someone someday, I'd love for him to have a friend like Jeff. There are times when a girl needs to be reminded that it's okay to dream and have fantasies, no matter how far-fetched they are. This is probably the mother of all cheesy and corny lines ever, but whatever. Megan, I love you. And I'm asking you to let me give you a lifetime of what you've shown me matters most.
Laughter, love, late-night conversations. I'm asking you to be my wife in the most conventional, traditional and time-tested meaning of the word, for as long as we both shall live.
