Jan 06, Rob rated it it was amazing. The story of Rosa Parks is powerful. This book gives the details of her life and defining moment, not only that, but her influence and involvement before and after her refusing to give up her seat on a segregated public bus. Rosa's life is traced from childhood to elderly, including the particulars of her mindset throughout her life during the turbulent Civil Rights era. However, my heart, too, was heavy for the ills committ The story of Rosa Parks is powerful. However, my heart, too, was heavy for the ills committed by white people against African Americans. Rosa makes a point that laws were changed, but many whites'discriminatory views were not altered. The new laws offered protection to African Americans, but prejudice attitudes were not eradicated, which makes me uncomfortable as a white man.
I learned from reading Rosa's story that much work remains in regards to equality for all persons in the United States of America. The Civil Rights era needs to be learned by all students regardless of race or background. Rosa Parks gave a hopeful start with her sacrifice in the face of oppression; both whites and blacks need to continue her initiative.

She told the story the way it happened. She was sitting on the bus riding home from work, when the white man told her to move to the back of the bus where the negroes were to ride.
She refused to move and the bus driver called the police. She was arrested and then taken to jail. She wanted things to change and because of her, they were changed eventually! S but I've never knew that it was even worst back then. Even the laws favor the white. Rosa Park's story is so simple; she refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white man so she was put in jail. But her action is like a catalyst to a whole new wave of movement. The bus service boycott was a brilliant idea even tho it's practically near impossible but they did it.

The story takes place in Montgomery, Alabama. Where the main character Rosa Parks lives with her husband, Raymond Parks. The story began when she rode a bus; the bus was also really full.

A problem arose when the bus was too crowded, so a white man came and the driver told Rosa to go way in the back. But, she refused to leave her seat so the driver told her she was going to get arrested.
The first thing she had to do is go to the courts. Next, she had to call her husband and tell him what happened and how she got arrested. Lastly, she had to give her revenge by telling all the black people to boycott the buses as long as possible, because these Americans had to learn a lesson that everyone is born equal. The main character of the book Rosa Parks was Rosa Parks; she was a very nice and caring lady.
Rosa treated all the characters nice and equal. From the actions of the main characters, the reader learns that you should always be equal, all of this made the plot of the story very exciting because the story had a lot of problems and it gave a very important lesson that everyone should know.
The most exciting episode in the story was when they protested and boycotted the bus, because Rosa Parks is a very good person and she always deserves the best. However, the most disappointing moment in this story happened when she got arrested because she did nothing wrong to get arrested and she just did the right thing because everyone should stand up for their rights.
I would recommend this book to all the History lovers because this book showed a big lesson and it was really interesting to read. View all 6 comments. May 28, Sabil. Rosa Parks The name, Rosa Parks, has become a type of symbol for freedom and equal rights.
Rosa Parks was an African American free woman during the time of segregations between the colored people and the whites. Rosa Park had played active roles in reducing discrimination during her early days.

Rosa had grown weary and tired of doing what the white man said, one day she refused to give her seat on the bus to a white man, as was customary. The courage shown by Rosa Parks when she denied the white man her seat became a symbol of hope for the others that were heavily oppressed. This type of non-violent demonstration became quite popular and caught on quickly.
Rosa parks became a figure of equal rights for all those who were created equal. A woman, and a black one at that, incited a sort of non-violent revolutions of the back community against the unjust laws and heavy segregation. Rosa parks also inspired those who had been under the thumb of the white men to rise up and fight for their freedom.
It is unthinkable that history would forget such an inspiring and great personality. I would like to recommend this edition about Rosa Parks by People in the News because it is a truly inspiration story that has incited rebellion and a fight for freedom.
Those who enjoy reading historical nonfiction will find this to be an amazing life story that rocked the world during its time. Rosa promoted equal rights, freedom and the freedom of will. This aspiring memory is a part of the reason this book is significant, showing how different it was to be treated equally for African Americans and why they wanted to make being treated equally, normal. The Montgomery bus boycott started after that and African Americans avoided the busses for over a year. A non-violent protest went on, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Whites not in the protests were violent. That's the goal we seek, and I think the more people there are who reach that state of mind, the better we will all be. My Story shows a rare perspective of the Civil Rights Movement in detail.
Though the book can get a little bit confusing by not having things in chronological order, it still is written in a way that gets you emotional. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the Civil Rights Movement and this hero of it. Nov 20, Jeffrey F rated it it was amazing. I believe the auto-biography has an important theme, that you can do anything if you try hard enough. For example Rosa gives up a lot by going to trials and jail but still kept with it, to change American ways. As well as that others joined in with the enormous bus boycott to speak louder and try as hard as they could to fix these wretched ways.
Even through the point that "the police tried to stop all of this, they would arrest black carpool drivers for any minor traffic violation" Rosa Parks: Martin Luther King, as he made his many speeches to not just defer segregation but end it.
